A Story Behind

Our client, Adlai Kerr, COO of BahamaGo, through market research, found out that he can add the most value to small hotels, that are usually overlooked by the large online travel agencies; those that lack resources to improve their online presence and distribution. The initial idea was to develop an OTA solution focusing on small hotel partners, which means 10 rooms or less, and as a rule, owner-operated. Adlai required a partner that could challenge him to deliver the solution to the idea he had.

Initially, the customer provided us with the design and a very brief description of the task. During the implementation of the project, we discussed with the customer the interface and working aspects of the design in order to give the application a complete and functional look.

Challenges

Each section of the site works with a separate service for airplanes, for hotels, for cars, and for payments. All of these communicate through the SOAP API protocol, which at the same time, simplifies and complicates the task. We created an isolated module responsible for external third-party services APIs.

The documentation provided by the customer gave only a generalized idea of the sequence of actions and the contents of the requests. During the project, we talked with the support departments of all third-party services in order to clarify all the nuances and subtleties of the APIs.

For the front end, we used the Materialize CSS framework and inline SVG-sprite technology instead of font icons, with caching, to reduce the site loading speed and prevent the FOUT effect (a Flash of Unstyled Text).

    The portal allows accepting credit and debit card payments and issuing refunds online.

  • Integrated CMS

    The portal uses the integrated CMS for the management of tourist packages and offers.
